PLIGHT OF VETERINARY PROFESSION IN INDIA
This is irony of our country that people specially of villages don't know what vets usually do..they are quite ignorant in this case.. Vets are not given proper respect as much as human doctor use to get..
Why I'm writing this because today I came across one viral vedio of Veterinary doctor who was telling that how he went to meet one of the politician and he questioned him that why he is he wearing white coat and carrying Stethoscope ..these things are only meant for MBBS???
Now question is that:
- Where is it written that animal doctors cant wear white coats and stetoscope round there neck?
- Why such illogical norms are prevailing in our country?
- What government institutions and animal husbandry are doing to guide people regarding vet profession?
- Why veterinary degree of 5 years or even more (add M.V.Sc, PhD) stop us from calling us doctors?
- Why our sleepless nights, clinics duties, struggles with animals are always less than the struggles of MBBS?
- Why are we not given jobs at regular basis as MBBS are given?
- Why our patients life is not important as that of human life?
- Why our proffesion is seen with eye of flith?
- Why parents dream of making there kids MBBS, engineer, BDS, teacher even actor but never vets?
These are just few of the why's I raised. There are tons of such arguments which questions our society that what we have given to our vets? Whenever something bad happens to medicos we all take stand instead of being vet. but why vets are treated as outcast? why can't we called doctor even when we all evolved from vicious cycle of hardships.
Why people and other professional doctors stop themselves from taking the stand. I still remember the scenario when hyderabad vet was raped and I have lot more friends from different background of medical fields, but no one even bothered to atleast put single story. This is the pitiful condition of our country.
When the world is moving forward with the slogan of "ONE HEALTH" where every doctor in working together there we are still stuck between MBBS, BDS, VETS, Homeo, BAMS ...why???
Can't we all work together efficiently and effectively to bring our country at better state.
In cities conditions are still better. Owners know what vets really are. We can say may be due to westernization but in villages still there is a need. So we all should educate everyone around us not only regarding there pets but also about there doctors. Parents should feel proud if their kids want to be Vet. It's never bad if your kids are compassionate toward animals. Never stop them and educate them.
I had seen my fellow vets saying that no one knows much about vets except us? but why is this scenario? someone is wrong at some place , instead of giving such lame excuses why don't we get forward to educate people about our profession, work.. Humans and animals were never different from anatomy to physiology to pathology to clinical studies we all are same.
Vets are those who treat your pets even without knowing what they are going through.Vets are part of many leading pharmaceutical companies, clinics, administrative, army etc. they have capability to cope up with any type of dangerous situation, because in their life everyday they are interacting with new species.. that makes them diverse and unique from other doctors.
From surgeon to clinician to pathologist, to microbiolist to anaesthesiogist to gynaecologist, vet is combination of everything..they are epitome of variability and diversity. ...
Do you think this is what a vet deserves? When will vets really going to get real credits?... when????
With this i wrap up here. These all are my personal views i know many of you can't relate but I know at least vets will relate.. see yaaa...
